There are reports that the Indian
Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services Limited (IL&FS) of India
had forwarded a LOI (Letter of Intent) to the government of Nepal to take over
the management of some 15 domestic airports and the Tribhuwan International
Airport in Kathmandu. All the Nepali airports are taken as strategically
important because of its “location”.
In the LoI received from India, the Indian
company had shown its keen interest to take over the management of airports at
Biratnagar, Nepalgunj, Surkhet, Lumka, Jumla, Chandragadi, Pokhara, Jomsom,
Tumlingtar, Bhairawaha, Simra, Lamidanda, Dhangadi, Janakpur and Bharatpur.
Oh My God!
The Jana Disha Daily-the Maoists’ Party mouth
piece dated December 7, 2009, had reported that at the consultative meeting held between the
representatives of the Government of India and Nepal, December 4-7, 2009 in
Kathmandu, the Nepali side had provided a clear go-ahead signal to India to
construct an Air-Strip for the Indian Air Force in Surket.
Madhav Kumar Nepal was then Nepal’s Prime
Minister.
Later the government of Nepal retracted from
its earlier stand after formally scolded by China as it considered that the
decision would pose grave security threat to China, it had been reported then.
Surkhet is close to the tri-junction, Kalapani,
where China meets India in Nepali territory. Some 37.5 thousand hectares of Nepali lands in Kalapni is being
occupied by India.
After the earlier failure to construct an
air-strip in Nepal, a private company from India has forwarded a similar
proposal-which is even more ‘dangerous’ than the previous one as it not only
poses threats to Nepal’s sovereignty but is primarily aimed at threatening Chinese security from Nepali soil.
Tease China campaign begins.
The plot, Nepal’s defense analysts claim, is to
facilitate the Indian Army to strike at China as and when India and China go to
war. Both the countries have been feeling uneasy with each other.
Thus it is clear that IL&FS has forwarded
the request as per the long term plans of the Indian government, further claim
analyst.
It was reported that since India has already
constructed air-strips deep inside Bhutan and an air-strip in Surkhet of Nepal
will serve the Indian security interests in a much more enhanced manner, say
experts. Expecting dividends from the JNU investment.
Attention China!
