Twelve point deal was drafted by India later decoded in Nepali: Rohit

By Telegraph Nepal

Rabindra Mishra for BBC Nepali Service asks Narayan Man Bijukche ‘Rohit’ of Nepal Majdoor Kisan Party whether the then seven party alliances had reached some sort of agreement with the former King Gyanendra Shah to retain monarchy.

In an interview with a local television Channel former King Shah claims that the parties had assured him in written that they will retain the institution of monarchy.

Replies Bijukche, “With the signing of the 12 Point Agreement in New Delhi, our political parties began referring to Ganatantra (peoples’ rule). All those who were not part of the agreement have no idea about it (if the agreement had been singed). Some of the leaders representing seven party alliances had gone to New Delhi (or summoned?) and signed the agreement in compliance with India. I think those who were part of the 12 point deal remain answerable to this.”

Mishra further pokes Rohit, “But they have already claimed that there exist no such agreements as claimed by the former monarch?”

(Madhav Nepal and K.P. Sitaula have already termed it as a white lie).

“Nowhere in the deal has Ganatantra (republic) been mentioned. Perhaps he is indicating towards this,” adds Bijukche refereeing to King Gyanendra’s remarks and adds, “In the 12 Point agreement Janatantra has only been mentioned. It is being misinterpreted now as the deal was incorrect.”

“Had the deal referred to praja-tanra, it would have been much clear as the word itself clarifies relation between the king and the people,” Bijukche continue and stated further, “India in a pre-planned manner used the word janatantra to create confusion.”

“Do you mean to say that the 12 point deal was drafted by India first and later translated into Nepali”, asks Rabindra to get some more details.

Replies Bijukche, “That’s true.”

If republican order was established under the Indian mercy and preference of  India, what is the possibility that the order will disappear again due to India?

It is impossible now. We will not continue to abide by Indian diktats. The parties then were not quite clear about India’s real intents. Now we all are regretting, Bijukche adds.

Timely regret is good for political health.

Do you believe that the seven parties had reached the deal with the King? Mishra further grills Rohit.

“No. I am not aware of any agreements of this sort. What others did I have no idea. If there exist a written agreement as such then he is free to make it public”.

Bijukche also ridicules any possibility as such for the return of monarchy.

By the way, MIshra obtained his Master in Communication degree from a Pakistani university long time back.
